Akron Municipal Court Divorce Records
In Ohio, proceedings to legally terminate a marriage are referred to as divorce (when there is a dispute over the case) or dissolution of marriage (when there is no dispute). Rather than the Akron Municipal Court, divorce and dissolution filings are adjudicated in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Division, and the resulting files are maintained in the permanent custody of the Summit County Clerk of Courts.
Pursuant to the Supreme Court of Ohio Rules of Superintendence, official records from divorce and dissolution actions are considered public information. To obtain divorce records from the Summit County Domestic Relations Court, individuals can
- Access the Clerk's online Case Search system (records from 2002 to the present);
- Visit the Clerk's Legal Division situated on the first floor of the Summit County Courthouse Annex during normal business hours; or
- Submit a Public Records Form by email, mail, or in person.
The Clerk's Public Records Request page displays related request fees and guidelines.
